Predictions, trends and a forecast of ideas we will see dominating digital marketing in 2017. Marketing
Googles focus has been on good, relevant and up-to-date content, this is set to continue making it even more important for you to find your voice through rich content including video, infographics, blogging and social media. Landing pages and email marketing might just be your route to funnelling catching customers them through your web. Design Pantone Greenery (15-0343) has been named the colour of the year for 2017, a refreshing and revitalising shade, according to Pantone, greenery is symbolic of new beginnings. Images Originality has always been key for fresh new designs. We may see more bespoke illustrations and design. The use of SVG’s (scalable vector graphics), this means simple flat designs with the use of a couple of vibrant colours to keep intrigue and originality in the forefront. Websites More brands are adopting a mobile first presence and bigger implementations of responsive design. Late last year Google revealed they were introducing Mobile-first indexing, stating “we will eventually primarily use the mobile version of a site’s content to rank pages from that site”. More on: Mobile-first indexing Social Media Video streaming with Facebook Live was a big hit last year, I think we will continue to see a rise in video content with in-app add-ons and features that make it much easier to create this type of content. More apps and app features that reiterate Mobile-first, and paid content growing in popularity to ensure users see your content and the growing of your followers. My predictions for 2017… In an information and technology rich world… keep things simple, less complicated design structures and no more video backgrounds (I don’t know about you but these make me nauseous!). Say what we need to say and communicate in fewer words with perhaps bigger bolder type. The colour blue has always dominated the web as a popular colour choice, it would be great to see more vibrant colour choices. What do you think we will see that is new in 2017? Have you spotted any design, marketing or online trends already? Yes it’s still November and we are talking about Christmas (after all it is only 4 weeks away). We know everyone is very this time of year trying to get things sorted in our business ready for a break next month (if you are lucky!). So here is a short list of simple Christmassy marketing ideas to help promote your business. 1. Personalised Message
Nothing beats a very personalised Christmas message thanking your customers and suppliers. You could do something a little different… Promote your new years resolutions, perhaps show what new features you will improve in your services next year. This can be delivered through a Christmas card, email marketing or video. Video is outperforming most other online content with Facebook Live proving very successful for small business. 2. Add Some Sparkle to Your Logo Add a Christmassy touch to your logo, website or email signature. It’s good to show your customers you are not a Grinch and have some Christmas spirit! 3. Social Media - Win a Christmas Prize Follow, share and comment on a social media post to win a high value Christmas prize. This is sure to drum up some engagement and exposure for your products and services. 4. Go Marketing Mad… Combine a Christmas theme such as 12 days of Christmas, a Christmas story or rhyme, Christmas tree or other symbolic Christmas item with something about your company, product or service. We love the idea of an advent calendar. 5. If It's Too Late For All That… Sometimes it’s hard to fit in time for yourself when running a small business. The digital world can be very interactive but nothing beats real celebrations. Hold a last minute Christmas get-together with warm drinks and mince pies. A perfect networking opportunity for all your customers and suppliers. Have you had some successful Christmas marketing in the past?
